About
The History of Ted's Pizza
Ted's Pizza has been serving the Menomonie area since 1970. The Gounaikis family moved to the United States in 1967 from Katerini, Greece. George Gounaikis purchased Ted's Pizza in 1977 and Jim Gounaikis bought it from his father in 1986. It was during these years that Jim and his brother Phil learned all here is to know about running a pizza restaurant. Now, Phil and his wife, Patty, own George's Vineyard in Northfield, Minnesota. Ted's moved to its current location, 306 Main Street, in 2000 to provide Menomonie with a larger dining room and more variety on the menu. Jim carries on the family tradition with special recipes for the pizza dough, pizza sauce, spaghetti and marinara sauces, and pizza toppings that are made fresh daily. The restaurant even offers a little bit of Greece with its very popular Gyro Sandwiches served with homemade sauce and a large Greek Salad big enough to share. Ted's Pizza strives to provide a comfortable atmosphere while offering a superior product at a reasonable price.
Hey, What About Ted?
Ted is a man from Greece that only owned Ted's Pizza for a few short years. He became very allergic to the flour and could not continue to work. He and his family moved back to Greece. He now owns a cement company in Jim's home town.
